My name is Sandie Mier and I have been teaching since 1994. I currently Team Teach in both the Older Threes program, as well as our Monday Funday class. I really enjoy being the first person to cultivate a lifelong love of learning to the little ones. I appreciate art, in all of its forms and love to share my passion and creativity with the students. I find that my Team Teachers share my enthusiasm and patience while spending time with these young minds. I look forward to watching many more students learn and grow in this wonderful environment.
My name is Christine Mier and I have been teaching at Mount Cross for since 2002. I currently teach the Older Threes program. I am enthusiastic about being a part of the formative years of the children’s educational experience. It is very fulfilling to watch the students learn and grow in a positive way. The best part of teaching this age is to watch their smiles, while learning and having fun at the same time. I am thrilled to be a part of this educational team and watch the students grow in both their social and personal lives.
The child in this class usually turns 4 during the school year, between December and May. Our curriculum is designed to help the older three child with development in all areas: Social-Emotional-Physical-Intellectual and Spiritual. We feel strongly that great lessons are learned through play. During outdoor play, the large muscles are developing as the child climbs, swings and ride trikes. Social growth occurs as children share toys, play games and work together. Three main goals for this age group are: Develop listening skills-Learn to follow directions-Have good self esteem. With the goals reached, students are prepared for our Pre-K where we teach Zoo Phonics, make alphabet books and practice writing.
