Debi Murphy Young Three's

Debi Murphy

My name is Debi Murphy and I have been an educator for the last thirty years. I am currently a Team Teacher in the Young Threes program, as well as our Monday Funday class. I enjoy this age group because of the creativity that is experienced daily on both the teaching and learning levels. It is rewarding to watch the student’s eyes light up when they understand a new concept or make a new friend. I feel as though our staff works very well together and helps each other cultivate a wonderful environment for the students to positively learn and grow on scholastic, physical and social levels.

Yvonne Seibert

I started my career as a Preschool Teacher after graduating from High School.  I have been teaching here at Mount Cross Child Development Center since 2006.  I have enjoyed working here with other experienced teachers who work cooperatively together to make Mount Cross the excellent Preschool it is.  My goal as a Preschool Teacher is to provide each child with a positive school experience along with a love of learning.
Young 3's
Emotional Development: Separation anxiety is dealt with carefully and calmly. If there is separation anxiety after three weeks of school, it can be a sign that the child is too young for school and needs to be at home for another six months to a year.
Social Development: Through the variety of activities we offer, the child learns how to socially interact with others in a positive way.  Social interaction, working together, sharing and caring are encouraged throughout the entire school day.
Physical Development:  Playground time helps develop large motor skills through the actions of climbing, pumping swings and riding trikes. Development of fine motor skills takes place in the classroom with the manipulation of puzzles, stringing beads, cutting, arts and crafts and matching games.
Cognitive Development: Although the emotional, social and physical development are the most important for the young child, we do work indirectly with letters and numbers. We have a color, shape and number for the month. Listening skills are improved each day during story time. The young three students need a lot of attention and direction, therefore, we have a ratio of two educators for eleven children.

Children in this class usually don't turn four during the school year. We have only 11 children to two teachers as the young 3's need lots of direction and attention.
